Chiller Program

What is it?

By replacing your commercial chiller equipment, you could earn a rebate of up to $175 per kilowatt (kW) reduction over the baseline.

How does it work?

The rebate applies to commercial/industrial customers adding or replacing chiller equipment at their facility with high-efficiency upgrades that meet Tampa Electric's requirements. The program covers water-cooled centrifugal chillers, water-cooled scroll or screw chillers and air-cooled electric chillers.

Minimum qualifications for chillers are:

Water-Cooled Centrifugal Chillers

Under 150 Tons = .65 kW/ton with a 5.4 COP
150 - 300 Tons = .60 kW/ton with a 5.9 COP
Over 300 Tons = .56 kW/ton with a 6.3 COP

Water-Cooled Scroll or Screw Chillers

Under 150 Tons = .72 kW/ton with a 4.9 COP
150 - 300 Tons = .66 kW/ton with a 5.3 COP
Over 300 Tons = .59 kW/ton with a 5.9 COP

Air-Cooled Electric Chillers

Any size = 1.17 kW/ton with a 3.0 COP

Note: The maximum rebate will be $175 per kW reduction over baseline.

Either you or your commercial heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) contractor must submit a rebate request form to Tampa Electric. The form will be signed by you and the contractor. The contractor's signature certifies that the equipment installed is in accordance with the program standards. Your signature verifies that the equipment was installed and the rebate recipient's name and mailing address are correct.

How do I participate?

To participate, please follow these steps:

Mail or e-mail your project proposal to Tampa Electric. Once your proposal is received, a Tampa Electric representative may schedule an on-site visit for pre-inspection.
After the pre-inspection is complete or Tampa Electric approves your proposal, download and submit the Chiller program application to Tampa Electric. Once your application is received, a Tampa Electric representative will schedule an on-site post-inspection.
Tampa Electric will process the rebate check after the program guidelines are met. Please allow 4 weeks to process your rebate check.
