Cooling Program
What is it?
Replace old commercial cooling equipment at your facility and earn money for doing so with the Commercial Cooling Program.
How does it work?
Aimed at systems under 760,000 Btu, incentives for installing new equipment that meets our energy efficiency standards are approximately $30.00 per ton, or $0.0025 per Btu. (This program covers both direct expansion air conditioners and package terminal air conditioners.) Make the upgrade to new equipment, earn the incentive, and enjoy greater cooling efficiency at your site.
Minimum qualifying efficiency rating is as follows:
- Electric Package Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC)
(>7,000 Btu/h and < 15,000 Btu/h) – EER 11.5
- Electric Unitary Air Conditioners (< 65,000 Btu/h) – EER 11.5
Electric Unitary Air Conditioners (>65,000 Btu/h and < 240,000 Btu/h) – EER 10.5
Electric Unitary Air Conditioners (>240,000 Btu/h and < 760,000 Btu/h) – EER 10.5
How do I participate?
To participate, please follow these steps:
- Mail or fax your project proposal to Tampa Electric. Once your proposal is received, a Tampa Electric representative will schedule an on-site visit for pre-inspection.
- After the pre-inspection is complete, download and submit the Commercial Cooling application to Tampa Electric. Once your application is received, a Tampa Electric representative will schedule an on-site post-inspection.
- Tampa Electric will process the rebate check after the inspection is complete and all program guidelines are met. Please allow 4 weeks to process your rebate check.
