Energy Efficient Motors
What is it?
If your facility uses three-phase motors a minimum of 2,000 hours annually and qualifies, the Commercial Energy Efficient Motors program can earn you incentives for replacing old motors with new, high efficiency models that exceed minimum product manufacturing standards.
How does it work?
You can earn $2.50 per-motor horsepower (hp) upgrade - and get the long-term benefits of improved efficiency for a key component of your business.
Nominal efficiency tables for your new motor can be found here. Minimum qualification for motors is as follows:
- Size range from 1 hp to 500 hp
- Motors must be new, three-phase induction motors
- NEMA design A
- NEMA design B
- Open Drip-Proof (ODP) or Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled (TEFC)
- 1200, 1800, or 3600 RPM
- Eligible motors most operate a minimum of 2,000 hours annually
How do I participate?
To participate, please follow these steps:
- Mail or fax your project proposal to Tampa Electric. Once your proposal is received, a Tampa Electric representative will schedule an on-site visit for pre-inspection.
- After the pre-inspection is complete, download and submit the Commercial Energy Efficient Motors application to Tampa Electric. Once your application is received, a Tampa Electric representative will schedule an on-site post-inspection.
- Tampa Electric will process the rebate check after the inspection is complete and all program guidelines are met. Please allow 4 weeks to process your rebate check.
