Load Management - Guidelines

Understanding the guidelines

Your business can earn credits on your monthly electric bill with our load management program by allowing Tampa Electric to control operation of air conditioning or specialized equipment during critical energy use periods.

The cyclic incentive is $1 per kilowatt demand per summer month for all appliances on the program and is applied to the monthly bill. Cyclic air conditioning control is applicable to business customers on the following rates: General Service, Non-demand (GS); Standard General Service, Demand (GSD); and Standard General Service, Large Demand (GSLD).

The extended incentive is $3 per kilowatt demand per month for all appliances on the program and is applied to the monthly bill. Extended control is applicable to business customers on the following rates: General Service, Non-demand (GS);Time of Day General Service, Non-demand (GSDT); Standard General Service, Demand (GSD); Time of Day General Service, Demand (GST); Standard General Service, Large Demand (GSLD); and Time of Day General Service, Large Demand (GSLDT).

When does the program control appliances?

Summer operating season is April 1 through October 31. Normal summer control periods are 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Winter operating season is November 1 through March 31. Normal winter control periods are 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

All appliances must be electric.The initial credit is determined by the inspection date. Tampa Electric inspections are performed at least once a year.
