For builders and developers committed to sustainability, an ideal place to start is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, a green building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED provides third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built to improve energy and water efficiency as well as indoor environmental quality.
