Tampa Electric launches public information campaign to help customers save money on their monthly energy bill
TAMPA, January 3, 2006
Tampa Electric is mounting a four-part campaign to inform customers about the fuel cost increase for 2006 and the impact to their bill, and to help them make smart energy choices.
“We want our customers to know we share their frustration about the high cost of fuel used to generate electricity,” said Tampa Electric president Chuck Black. “We also want our customers to have detailed information about why this is happening, what Tampa Electric is doing about it and ways customers can take control of their energy bill.”
Beginning in January, Tampa Electric customers will see informational spots on television, inserts in local newspapers, bill stuffers and a letter from Black.
Two versions of the bill stuffer are planned, one for residential customers and another for commercial and industrial customers. Both versions will provide important information about the charges on electric bill. Customers who use electronic billing or E-Bill, and do not typically receive a monthly paper bill, also will receive this information by mail.
Personal Letter from the President of Tampa Electric
Each customer will receive a personal letter from Chuck Black informing them of the price changes and providing helpful energy-saving information.
“While Tampa Electric’s rates remain comparable to those of other major Florida utilities (and utilities throughout the nation), please know that each person in our company shares your frustration at the high cost of fuel and its inevitable impact on your electric bill,” Black said in his letter.
The third component of the campaign is a television commercial, which will air on local cable channels. The commercial will introduce actual Tampa Electric customers – residential and business customers – utilizing energy-saving practices to save money on their annual bill. The spot will also promote Tampa Electric’s online energy survey program, where customers can learn how to save significantly on their energy bill.
Tampa Electric will insert a flyer into local newspapers that also will provide specific information about why fuel costs have increased and help customers make smart energy choices, which will help save money on their energy bill. They flyer will show up in area newspapers on Friday, January 6.
