Tampa Electric to use Twitter to disseminate important company information
Cold weather savings tips, storm restoration updates and storm safety tips will be provided.

Tampa Electric today announced that it will begin utilizing Twitter to tweet cold weather savings tips, energy efficiency information, major outage restoration times, storm safety information and news useful to our customers.
Twitter will be used by Tampa Electric during events that require timely customer communications. The company will use its Web site and the local news media to communicate the Tampa Electric Twitter address to encourage followers. Customers can get storm news updates on Twitter at http://twitter.com/tampaelectric.
“We will be using social media as an additional communications tools to reach customers,” said Patrick Ho, Director of Corporate Communications at Tampa Electric. “Twitter will allow our customers to access useful company information during a significant outage event at any time from any location.”
Customers can also find real-time information about power outages on the company’s Web site at http://www.tampaelectric.com/outagemap or on the Tampa Electric mobile Web site at http://m.tampaelectric.com.
