Big Bend Solar
Adjacent to Tampa Electric's Big Bend Power Station in Apollo Beach.
This 23-megawatt photovoltaic (PV) array features more than 200,000 solar panels on 106 acres of Tampa Electric-owned land near our Big Bend Power Station. Completed in Feb. 2017, it's the largest solar array in the Tampa Bay area and has the capacity to power more than 3,300 homes.
The Big Bend Solar array is situated near Tampa Electric's Manatee Viewing Center, which has hosted more than 4.3 million visitors since it opened in 1986. Just to the south of the Manatee Viewing Center, the Florida Conservation and Technology Center – a partnership between Tampa Electric, the Florida Aquarium and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission – is currently under construction.
