Solar Rebates

Tampa Electric offers rebates when you install a new photovoltaic (PV) and/or solar water heating system in your home or business. Through duration of the pilot, we will offer $1.5 million in rebates each year to encourage the installation of PV and solar water heater systems. Rebates are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Existing systems will not qualify for the rebate.

Full funding of the solar rebate program occurs on October 1st (or the first Monday after, if the date falls on a weekend) of each year. Historically, due to high demand, the solar PV array rebate funds are typically exhausted on the first day of availability. However, throughout the year, Tampa Electric may make funds available due to unfulfilled customer projects.

Photovoltaic (PV) Installation

Residential and business customers can receive up to $2 per watt, up to a maximum of $20,000, when a PV system is installed and interconnected to Tampa Electric's grid. To get started, complete and submit a PV reservation form.

Solar Water Heater Installation

Residential customers can receive up to $1,000 when a new solar water heater system is installed. To get started, complete and submit a Solar Water Heater reservation form. Solar water heating systems include both storage tanks and solar collectors.

This typical 5,000 watt installation is approximately 15' X 30'. A system this size can produce about 630 kilowatt-hours per month or $80 worth of electricity per month.
