Let’s think about new energy-efficient electric technologies. What does “efficient” mean? Efficient means that you can accomplish results without wasting time, material or energy.

Each group will need:
  • Poster board
  • Markers
  • Crayons
  • Construction paper
  • Aluminum foil
  • Plastic wrap
  • Egg cartons
  • Felt
  • Styrofoam
  • Craft sticks
  • Paints
  • Boxes
  • Any other arts & crafts materials you can find.
Here’s The Plan:
  • Work with other students in a group or team and draw the rooms in a home. Be sure to make your design large enough to fill a piece of poster board.
  • Using your imagination, think about the type of modern energy-efficient electric technologies you’d like to have in your home and make a list for each room (hint: see your “hunt list”).
  • Now, using the arts & crafts materials, build your electric technologies and place them in the rooms in your energy-efficient home.
Check It Out:
  • Compare your group’s home with that of your neighbors.
  • Try to figure out which home would be the most energy efficient.
  • Which group had the most unusual technologies?
  • Which home would you like to live in? Why?
