Residential customers taking service under the company's standard residential rate will pay 9.706 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to charge an electric vehicle. With the standard rate, you will pay the same price per kWh regardless of what time of day you charge.

The price includes the following Florida Public Service Commission-approved charges as of January 2012 (based on 1,200 kWh per month): for fuel (4.007 cents/kWh), the base energy rate (4.662 cents/kWh), capacity (.276 cents/kWh), environmental (.460 cents/kWh) and conservation (.302 cents/kWh). Does not include customer charge and gross receipts tax.

Incentives

Federal tax incentives tend to change from year to year. The U.S. Department of Energy website provides a list of incentives for electric vehicles and incentives for charging equipment. There are no monetary incentives available through the state of Florida.
