Florida Public Service Commission approves Tampa Electric’s contract to purchase solar photovoltaic energy
Tampa Electric today announced that the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) approved its contract to purchase solar power supplied by Energy 5.0’s Florida Solar I project, a proposed 25-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic electric generating station, for a 25-year period beginning in 2011.

Tampa Electric and the Tampa Bay Sports Commission today announced that the 2009 Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship Game on December 5th at Raymond James Stadium will be powered utilizing Florida-based renewable energy produced from natural sources like the sun and biomass.

Tampa Electric, USF and Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo to kick off new renewable energy project
Tampa Electric today joined the University of South Florida’s Power Center for Utility Explorations and Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo to launch a new, two-part renewable energy project at the Zoo that will generate 15 kilowatts (kW) of electricity for the electric grid and serve as an educational tool for students and the community.
