Thank you for your interest in Tampa Electric’s environmental profile and our accomplishments. In May 2006, we released an environmental report, detailing our company’s industry-leading emissions reduction activities.
I invite you to download and review our environmental report, “Vision and Commitment.” In it, you can see in detail our accomplishments, and our future plans to address air, land and water issues, as well as our environmental compliance program, energy conservation and renewable energy programs and stewardship initiatives.
At Tampa Electric, we believe strongly that our accomplishments, detailed in this report, demonstrate that an electric utility can balance the competing needs of shareholders for a fair return, customers for affordable, reliable electric service and the community for a responsible approach to the environment.
Notably, by 2010, we will have spent $1.5 billion on a sweeping, 10-year environmental improvement program that will reduce sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions by more than 89 percent from 1998 levels. Through this same investment, we’ll also achieve substantial decreases to carbon dioxide, particulate matter and mercury.
Through our company’s vision and our actions, Tampa Electric is positioned well to meet all current and proposed environmental regulations.
