Recycling

Our ongoing responsibility

On a daily basis, Tampa Electric recycles byproducts resulting from the power generation process and other natural resources at our power plants.

At TECO Plaza in Tampa, over 4,200 fluorescent light bulbs are recycled. In addition, TECO Plaza employees recycle over 5,100 pounds of batteries and more than 12,700 High Intensity Discharge lamps.

We have an obligation to serve our half-a-million customers in West Central Florida in a reliable, cost-effective manner. As part of our ongoing responsibility, we have and continue to develop leading-edge technologies to responsibly meet current and future environmental standards and growth needs.

Recycling is an important factor in the energy equation. Read the article from "Talking Trash," a special supplement to the Tampa Tribune, May 2003, from the City of Tampa Solid Waste Division.
