

The delivery of reliable, cost-effective electricity to our customers requires Tampa Electric to regularly maintain and, as required, upgrade our electrical system.
In order to continue to reliably serve the Plant City area, Tampa Electric plans to rebuild a transmission line that runs from our Hampton substation, located at the intersection of West Trapnell Road and Mud Lake Road, to our Alexander substation, located at Alexander Street and Airport Road.
This project involves work to replace existing transmission poles and wires along a route from the Alexander substation south on Alexander Street to Mud Lake Road, then along Mud Lake Road to the Hampton substation, a distance of approximately three miles. As part of this project, some of the new poles may be placed in different locations from the existing poles. This type of construction typically utilizes steel and/or concrete poles that are up to 75 feet in height, with a ground-line diameter of up to 24 inches. A map of the project area is attached.

To ensure adequate clearance for the new lines, Tampa Electric may need to trim trees along the project route beginning May 2009. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2009.
