The delivery of reliable, cost-effective electricity to our customers requires Tampa Electric to regularly maintain and, as required, upgrade our electrical system.
In order to continue to reliably serve the Plant City area, Tampa Electric rebuilt a transmission line that runs from our Hampton substation, located at the intersection of West Trapnell Road and Mud Lake Road, to our Alexander substation, located at Alexander Street and Airport Road.
This project involved work to replace existing transmission poles and wires along a route from the Alexander substation south on Alexander Street to Mud Lake Road, then along Mud Lake Road to the Hampton substation, a distance of approximately three miles. As part of this project, some of the new poles were placed in different locations from the existing poles. This type of construction typically utilizes steel and/or concrete poles that are up to 75 feet in height, with a ground-line diameter of up to 24 inches. A map of the project area is attached.
The project was completed in late 2009.
