The delivery of reliable, affordable electricity to our customers requires Tampa Electric to regularly maintain and, as required, add to our electrical system. With continued growth in our area, we must regularly monitor our system to ensure reliable service to our customers, now and in the future.
In order to meet increased distribution load growth in the Thonotosassa area, Tampa Electric needs to upgrade our facilities by replacing existing poles and electrical wire in your area. As part of this project, some poles may not be replaced in the same locations as the old poles.
The project will be constructed in four phases during 2008. Phase one construction is scheduled to begin in January, phase two in February, phase three in April and phase four in May.
Phase one involved work to replace poles and electrical wire along Main St. between SR 579 and Taylor Rd., then along Taylor Rd. between Florence Ave. and Skew Lee Rd.
Phase two included replacing some transmission and distribution poles, and electrical wire along Skew Lee Rd. between Harney Rd. and Taylor Rd.
Phase three involved construction of a new distribution line along Hwy 301, north from Fort King Rd. to McIntosh Rd.
Phase four included replacing distribution poles and electrical wire along Hwy 301 between Fowler Ave. and Florence Ave., and along Florence between SR 579 and Taylor Rd., then on Taylor between Florence and Fort King Hwy.
This project was completed in late 2008.
