Willow Oak - Wheeler - Davis

Dear Customer:

Tampa Electric is committed to continue providing our customers with up-to-date information about construction projects in your area.

In December 2010, we updated you on our plans to construct a new 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line from Hillsborough County to Polk County. This line will ensure the continued delivery of reliable and cost-effective electric service to your area. I want to tell you about our progress on the project:

Phase One connects the new Davis Substation in Temple Terrace to the new Thonotosassa Substation in Thonotosassa. Construction of Phase One was completed in December.
Phase Two will continue the transmission line from the Thonotosassa Substation to our existing Wheeler Substation in Valrico. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has approved the right of way for Phase Two, which means the company could begin engineering the project. Engineering and construction of Phase Two has been delayed from its original schedule due to slowed growth.
Phase Three will run from the Wheeler Substation to the proposed Willow Oak Substation, planned at the intersection of State Road 60 and Turner Road in western Polk County.

The timeline for engineering and construction of Phases Two and Three is still under development. We will update you on these activities once they have been scheduled.

We have enclosed a map of the project. Tampa Electric will continue to inform you of our progress as additional milestones in the project are completed.
