Lake Agnes

This proposed 230-kilovolt (kv) transmission line is planned to be 27.5 miles long, beginning at Tampa Electric’s Lake Agnes Substation, in Polk County, and ending at Progress Energy’s planned Gifford Substation, in southwest Orange County. It is a joint investment by both utilities.

After holding informational meetings and obtaining public input, Progress Energy and Tampa Electric selected a preferred corridor for the line, which was supported by an administrative law judge in August 2008. The Florida Siting Board certified the corridor in February 2009.

Recent changes, including a slowdown in population growth, have caused this project to be delayed. Check back in coming months for an updated construction schedule.
