Lake Ruby

PLEASE NOTE: This project was completed in June 2008.

The delivery of reliable, affordable electricity to our customers requires Tampa Electric to regularly maintain and, as required, add to our electrical system. With continued growth in our area, we must regularly monitor our system to ensure reliable service to our customers, now and in the future.

Tampa Electric plans to add a new distribution line to an existing line that is located on public right-of-way in your area to serve increased residential growth and development. This project involves re-building the existing distribution line by replacing existing electrical poles with new wood and/or concrete poles to accommodate the new and existing line.

The construction will begin at the Lake Ruby substation, located off of South Lake Fox Rd. and Cypress Gardens Rd. and will follow a route south along Cypress Gardens Rd., across Cypress Gardens Blvd., to West Lake Ruby Dr. then continue south to Thompson Nursery Dr., a span of approximately 2.0 miles.

To ensure adequate clearance for the new circuit, Tampa Electric may need to trim trees along portions of the project route.

Construction on the project is scheduled to begin in January 2008 and is planned to be completed during the second quarter of 2008.
