The delivery of reliable, affordable electricity to our customers requires Tampa Electric to regularly maintain and, as required, add to our electrical system. With continued growth in our area, we must regularly monitor our system to ensure reliable service to our customers, now and in the future.

Tampa Electric plans to add new distribution lines to our Madison substation, located on 78th St. north of Madison Ave. We also plan to re-locate an existing transmission line as part of this project.

The project will be constructed in two phases during 2008. Phase one construction is scheduled to begin in February 2008, phase two construction is scheduled to begin in June 2008.

Phase one involves construction of a new distribution line that will begin at the corner of 78th St. and 36th Ave. and follow a route west along 36th Ave. to 70th St., south on 70th St. to Hartford St., then west on Hartford to 66th St., just south of Hartford.

Phase two involves building a new distribution line from the Madison substation along the north side of Progress Blvd. and connecting to a relocated transmission line just west of Falkenburg Rd. The transmission and distribution lines will then run along the north side of Progress Blvd. from Faulkenburg Rd. to Interstate 75.

To ensure adequate clearance for the new lines, Tampa Electric may be required to trim trees along the project route beginning January 2008. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2008.
