Silver Dollar

PLEASE NOTE: This project was completed in May 2008.

The delivery of reliable, affordable electricity to our customers requires Tampa Electric to regularly maintain and, as required, add to our transmission and distribution system. With continued growth in our area, we must regularly monitor our system to ensure reliable service to our customers, now and in the future.

Tampa Electric plans to construct a new 69-kilovolt transmission line primarily on public right-of-way located in your area. This project also includes construction of a new substation on the north side of Patterson Road near the Silver Dollar Golf Club, and upgrades to the existing Keystone substation, located off of Race Track Road adjacent to the Keystone United Methodist Church.

The new transmission line will begin at the Keystone substation and follow a route along Race Track to Patterson Road, then along Patterson to the new Silver Dollar substation, a span of approximately four miles. This type of construction typically utilizes steel and/or concrete poles that are up to 75 feet in height with a ground-line diameter of up to 24 inches.

The new transmission line, substation and upgrades to the Keystone substation will allow Tampa Electric to maintain reliability and strengthen the electrical system in the area. Preliminary site work will begin in September 2007 and the project will be completed by May 2008.

An open house with Tampa Electric company representatives, who had detailed maps and displays of our construction plans and answered questions was held on:
