Sun City Center

Tampa Electric is committed to providing our Sun City Center customers with up-to-date information about construction projects in your area. In April 2007 we announced plans to expand and rebuild our Sun City substation, located on the south side of State Road 674 east of Highway 301. This project involved the addition of a second transformer, a second transmission circuit and two additional distribution circuits to the substation in order to enhance the reliability of electrical service we provide you.

We are pleased to announce that construction was completed on October 5 and that all equipment is operating as planned. The substation upgrades will improve voltage support and will allow additional switching capabilities during electrical outages in the Sun City Center area.

The substation upgrades and additions will also allow for increased load growth as the Sun City Center area continues to grow.

Tampa Electric also made aesthetic and safety enhancements. The existing chain link fence was removed and replaced with 8' tall black vinyl-coated chain link fence, and new safety signs were installed. Jasmine vine will be planted along the fence on the sides and back and ligustrum trees will be planted along the front.
