Whitehurst

In our ongoing efforts to ensure the continued delivery of reliable electricity to our customers, Tampa Electric plans to soon begin a project that will include construction of a new transmission switching station in your area and enhancements to an existing nearby 69-kilovolt transmission line.

The new Whitehurst switching station will be constructed near the intersection of Whitehurst and Boot Bay Roads in Plant City and is expected to be completed by the end of 2009.

The project involves replacing several existing transmission poles and electrical wire. This work will follow a route south from the new switching station along Whitehurst Road to Highway 92, then east along Highway 92 to Woodrow Wilson Street. From there, the route will proceed south on Woodrow Wilson Street to a Tampa Electric easement, and finally east to the Alexander substation, located at the intersection of Airport Road and Alexander Street. This type of construction typically utilizes steel and/or concrete poles that are up to 75 feet in height, with a ground-line diameter of up to 42 inches. A map of the project area is attached.

If you would like additional information about this project, you are invited to attend an open house with Tampa Electric company representatives, who will have detailed maps and displays of our construction plans and will answer questions:
