A module is a set of instructional resources that make up a lesson plan on a particular skill.
Modules are combined to create a particular training program. A single module can be used as a stand-alone course for one particular skill.
There are many benefits. First and foremost, this type of program produces a highly competent workforce. It also gives journey-level people from each craft (or classification) an opportunity to upgrade their skills in areas where they may not have had a chance to work. The program makes cross-training between crafts possible and furnishes a path for new employees entering the various crafts. It also provides complete documentation of each employee’s performance (competency) to assure he or she is qualified to perform the job.
