Power Pros™ skills training programs – how it works

A typical Power Pros training process works like this:

  • Personnel attend training at six-month intervals. After completing the required Power Pros modules, which generally takes two weeks, employees return to their work sites to immediately perform the tasks they have learned. This gives employees the practice needed to reinforce and retain the skills they have now mastered.
  • Employees return to the training center at a later date to take a retention test, which determines how much they remember from the previous class. Refresher modules are available to assist students needing additional instruction before advancing to the next training level.

Training is divided into three segments:

Classroom The student receives instruction on work safety requirements as well as training materials and reference information. When ready, the student takes a written test.
Practice After successfully completing the test, the student may practice his or her key skills or tasks.
Examination The student performs the tasks, demonstrating the required skills, in the presence of the course administrator. The student must perform the skills and tasks using standard procedures and equipment in the allotted time. If necessary, the student receives additional practice and/or instruction until the requirements to successfully complete the module are fulfilled.
