Bright Choices® - offering outdoor lighting solutions

Tampa Electric’s Bright Choices outdoor lighting program provides systems for residential, commercial and governmental customers who lease fixtures and poles from Tampa Electric for a monthly fee. Tampa Electric owns and maintains the equipment. If you enter into an agreement, Tampa Electric will design, engineer and install a safe and reliable system. The cost of electricity required for illumination will be included in your monthly lease fee and appear on your electric bill.

An example of customer requirements is listed below. Tampa Electric will provide a complete list of requirements for customers interested in entering into an agreement.

Before installation:

Ensure that the area where lighting is to be installed is accessible by a Tampa Electric vehicle
Locate and advise Tampa Electric of any underground facilities, including, but not limited to: pipes, septic/fuel tanks, conduits, cables, valves, etc.
Furnish to Tampa Electric all rights, permits and easements necessary for installation.
Enter into a ten-year contractual agreement (approved by the Florida Public Service Commission) that shall automatically be extended from year to year until terminated by the customer or by Tampa Electric.
Submit a deposit based on two times the average monthly lease fee.

After installation:

Notify Tampa Electric of any equipment malfunctions, including lights that need to be replaced.
Arrange for tree trimming by a qualified contractor. Tampa Electric will not be responsible for trimming trees for lighting installation or illumination obstruction.
Pay any costs to repair or replace equipment damaged as a result of any cause other than normal wear and tear.
Pay costs to relocate or remove equipment.
