Heating & Cooling Rebate

What is it?

Tampa Electric’s Heating and Cooling program allows you to earn rebates for replacing your old, inefficient air conditioning system with a new, energy-efficient heat pump that meets our energy-saving standards. This program is available to all residential customers.

How does it work?

  • When you replace an existing electric resistance, natural gas or oil heating system with a high-efficiency heat pump, you may qualify for a $275 rebate.
  • When you replace an existing heat pump with a high-efficiency heat pump, you may qualify for a $125 rebate.

Do any restrictions apply?

  • A minimum Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of 14 is required to participate.
  • The maximum supplemental strip heating shall not exceed two (2) kilowatts (kW) per nominal ton.
  • On a system less than 2.5 tons, a five kW heat strip is acceptable.

How do I get a Heating and Cooling Rebate?

When replacing an air conditioning system, talk to your contractor about installing a qualifying unit.

Please note: Tampa Electric requires the contractor to deduct the rebate amount from the customer’s invoice. Once this is complete, the rebate will be paid directly to the contractor. If the unit is installed without a contractor (owner-installed), the homeowner must mail or fax proof of purchase (paid receipt) to Tampa Electric to receive the rebate.
