Unburned carbon in coal ash and ammonia on coal ash resulting from SCR operations must be removed before the ash is recycled for use in high-value commercial products such as cement and cement applications. The process of flyash conditioning, also known as flyash beneficiation, achieves this result by processing the fly ash after it is generated in the production of electrical power. The benefits of flyash beneficiation include: (1) improved material recycling, (2) reduction in global warming emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) by using flyash instead of manufactured Portland cement in the production of concrete and (3) reduction in the use of landfill space.
