Tampa Electric was recently recognized as a Business Customer Champion for commercial customer engagement in a national study. It was among 23 utilities honored for providing world-class customer experience during a time of great customer need.
Overall, Business Customer Champions were credited with strong digital outreach, communications and service support, leading to greater utility-business customer relationships. The honor is given each year to utilities with exceptional performance in brand trust, service satisfaction and product experience – three categories that compose the Engaged Customer Relationship (ECR) index.
The 2020 Cogent Syndicated Utility Trusted Brand & Consumer Engagement™: Business study provides a comprehensive view into utilities’ relationships with their business customers. The study was conducted by Escalent, a top human behavior and analytics firm.
“We thank our business customers for their trust and for recognizing our efforts,” said Karen Sparkman, vice president of Customer Experience for Tampa Electric. “We have and continue to work hard to improve our digital experience, and it has made us a company that businesses want to work with – and that is exactly what we aspire to be.”
This year for business customers, Tampa Electric implemented bulk transactions, allowing bill downloads and payments for multiple accounts at one time.
About 15,000 business utility customers from 77 of the largest electric, natural gas and combination utilities across the country responded to the web-based survey.
Tampa Electric, one of Florida’s largest investor-owned electric utilities, serves about 780,000 customers in West Central Florida. Tampa Electric is a subsidiary of Emera Inc., a geographically diverse energy and services company headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
