After an extensive search, Tampa Electric has promoted Chip Whitworth to serve as Tampa Electric’s vice president of Safety and Security.
“Chip Whitworth exemplifies both the leadership and dedication we need on Tampa Electric’s journey to world-class safety,” said Archie Collins, president and chief executive officer of Tampa Electric. “He brings more than two decades of operational credibility and safety experience to this role.”

He later worked in Energy Supply, and in 2019 he became director of Big Bend Power Station. Most recently, he served as senior director of Bayside and Big Bend Stations, where he implemented a Safety Management System and piloted a Safe Start program, which both have expanded companywide.
Whitworth received his Bachelor of Civil/Structural Engineering and his Master of Business Administration from the University of South Florida.
