Tampa Electric announces plans to relocate South Hillsborough Office
TAMPA, April 30, 1999
Tampa Electric today announced plans to break ground on a new 5,800-square-foot customer service facility in southern Hillsborough County in the fourth quarter of 1999.
The new $700,000 South Hillsborough District Office, located near Tampa Electric's Operations Center off Interstate 75 near Ruskin, will replace the company's current facility when construction is completed in the first quarter of 2000.
"The new building will be located in the heart of South County's fastest growing, most populous area," said Bill Strandberg, district manager-South Hillsborough District Office. "The location's proximity to the I-75 corridor also offers easier access to the 38,000 metered customers we serve throughout southern Hillsborough County, which includes the Gibsonton, Riverview, Ruskin, Sun City Center and Apollo Beach areas."
Over the next three to five years, planned construction extending West from I-75 to downtown Ruskin, includes a new county service center, regional library, sheriff's office, Hartline office and a new middle school.
Tampa Electric is the principal subsidiary of TECO Energy, Inc. TECO Energy is a diversified, energy-related utility holding company also based in Tampa. In addition to Tampa Electric, its principal businesses include Peoples Gas, TECO Coal, TECO Transport, TECO Coalbed Methane, TECO Power Services, and Bosek Gibson and Associates.
