TAMPA, August 18, 1999
Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas System, both businesses of TECO Energy, Inc., today announced partnerships with StartSmart.com (www.startsmart.com), a new Internet relocation service that enables residential customers to more easily establish, transfer or discontinue a variety of consumer services when they move. Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas are the first Tampa Bay area utility providers to offer access to this first-of-its-kind service.
"This partnership provides residential customers throughout Tampa Electric's and Peoples Gas' service areas with a quicker, more efficient electronic commerce option for making service order requests," said Penni Allison, Tampa Electric's director of Corporate Customer Services. "Providing these types of innovative service solutions to meet our customers' growing energy needs takes us another step closer to making it even easier for them to do business with us."
Use of the StartSmart.com service is free. And, once a customer enters their information, they are provided with an e-mail confirmation. The site uses the most advanced encryption to provide the best commercial security available. All customer information submitted to the site is confidential and will only be used to process service orders.
