Tampa Electric expects to restore power to 15,000 Polk County customers today

Tampa Electric this morning reported that it expects to restore power to 15,000 of the 39,000 Polk County customers still without power due to Hurricane Charley. The company's peak number of outages as a result of Charley was 78,000.
Vice President-Energy Delivery Tom Hernandez said the company’s goal for total Charley restoration is still Friday. Much work still needs to be done to repair the transmission and distribution circuits that were damaged as a result of this major storm.
"We're working as quickly and safely as we can to make significant progress in our restoration efforts for Polk County customers," said Hernandez. "We appreciate our customers' patience as we work through the damage to our system."
