Tampa Electric sees big participation in 2003 Great American Teach-in
TAMPA, November 19, 2003
More than 100 Tampa Electric volunteers are making an impact in the lives of local children by participating in Wednesday’s Great American Teach-In. This fulfills the company’s goal of expanding its record of community service into local classrooms.
Tampa Electric President Bill Cantrell said, "Everyone who can, should volunteer an hour of their time and visit a classroom. One hour of your time can make a positive difference in a child's life."
Since 1990 the Great American Teach-In – with the help of the Hillsborough Education Foundation, Serve, local businesses and leading educators -- has taken place at schools around West Central Florida. It supplies a platform for adults in every type of job to share their experiences, knowledge and career advice to children in all grades.
Tampa Electric Company is the principal subsidiary of TECO Energy, Inc. (NYSE:TE), a diversified holding company of energy-related businesses that include Peoples Gas System, TECO Power Services, TECO Transport, TECO Coal and TECO Solutions.
