Tampa Electric cooperating in death investigation at Big Bend Power Station
TAMPA, April 3, 2014
Tampa Electric is cooperating with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) on a death investigation at Big Bend Power Station.
This afternoon, a contract employee was found dead on Big Bend property. The contractor, aged 61, arrived at the power plant yesterday for an orientation tour but separated from the group after he indicated he was not feeling well. Employees from his company attempted to contact him and were unsuccessful. After searching the power plant, officials assumed he left the jobsite. He was discovered this afternoon by another contract employee. According to the HCSO's preliminary investigation, his death appears to be of natural causes.
TECO extends thoughts and prayers to his family.
