Tampa Electric launches “More power to you, Tampa Bay” ad campaign
Promotes reliability, the value of electricity, energy efficiency and community support
TAMPA, June 29, 2015
Tampa Electric has launched a new advertising campaign that highlights the utility’s ongoing commitment to providing Tampa Bay customers with reliable and affordable electrical service as well as valuable energy efficiency and renewable solutions and support for the community.
The campaign consists of 15- and 30-second cable television spots, 15- and 30-second radio spots and Internet banners, all available to view on the company’s Our Ad Campaign Web page. The advertising is not paid for by customers.
“The campaign’s theme, ‘More power to you, Tampa Bay,’ highlights the company’s role in providing the energy that’s required to power local communities now and tomorrow,” said Gordon Gillette, president of Tampa Electric. “Tampa Electric is proud to have served Tampa Bay area customers for nearly 120 years, and we are committed to investing in our system to meet future energy needs.”
The campaign focuses on four core messages that spotlight how Tampa Electric brings value to its customers every day through:
- Reliability – Tampa Electric invests $40 million per year to help ensure reliable service and to further reduce the number of momentary outages (or “flickers”) that customers experience. The ongoing investment is paying off in fewer flickers over the past five years.
- Value – The price customers pay today per kilowatt hour is lower than five years ago. In fact, Tampa Electric rates are well below the national average. Customers who participate in the company’s Energy Planner program can save even more by taking advantage of lower rates that are available 87 percent of the time. In addition, the company offers free Power Updates that let customers receive text and phone messages about their service. Customers who follow Tampa Electric on Facebook and Twitter can get the latest on service restoration, program offerings and more.
- Customer Solutions – Tampa Electric offers free and easy ways to make payments. More than 200,000 customers have already discovered the convenience of free e-Bill - an online payment service that lets customers receive their electric bill online and choose how they want to pay. It's easy, fast and secure. The company also offers a Levelized Payment Plan (or budget payment plan) that levels the amount customers pay each month.
- Community Support – Tampa Electric employees volunteer nearly 20,000 hours of service each year in local communities where they live during non-work hours in Hillsborough, Polk, Pasco and Pinellas counties. The company is also investing millions into clean natural gas, solar and other sources of energy.
