Tampa Electric is committed to providing reliable, cost-effective electricity to you and your neighbors in Palm River.
Tampa Electric plans to build the new Causeway Substation, near Tuscany Ridge Drive and Falkenburg Road. The company also will build three miles of new transmission line. These improvements are needed to address significant growth in the area and to ensure all homes and businesses in your neighborhood continue to receive reliable power.
The substation will have a landscape buffer along Tuscany Ridge Drive. The 69-kilovolt (kV) line will start at the substation and travel south on Falkenburg Road, west on Causeway Boulevard and north on U.S. 301 to Palm River Road. The company will upgrade the existing half-mile of 69-kV transmission line that connects to the State Road 60 substation, at 9845 Solar Dr. The new steel poles will be 75 feet tall and 2 feet wide at ground level, with two larger poles, up to 85 feet tall and 3 feet wide, spanning the Selmon Expressway.
Construction will begin in coming weeks and is scheduled to be complete in summer 2018. The work will require temporary lane closures on some nearby streets. You may hear some construction-related noise, mostly during daylight hours on weekdays. We urge everyone to drive with caution during construction for the safety of other drivers, vehicles and Tampa Electric crews.
