Tampa Electric is committed to providing reliable, cost-effective electricity to you and your neighbors in Plant City.
Tampa Electric plans to build a new substation and power line in your neighborhood. The company will construct the Compark Substation at 1155 S. County Line Road and a 69-kilovolt (kV) power line, about 5 miles in length, south to Shepherd Road. The new line will tie into an existing line that runs east and west of County Line Road at Shepherd Road. This equipment is needed to ensure the homes and businesses in your area continue to receive reliable power and also to serve new customers. (Please see attached map).
About 100 steel poles 75 feet tall and two feet in diameter at ground level will be installed for the new line. Traffic will be temporarily disrupted during the installation of the equipment. Residents may hear some construction-related noise, mostly during daylight hours on weekdays.
Construction is scheduled to begin August 2015 and to be complete by June 2016.
Customers should expect a brief (1 hour) power outage when this work is nearly complete; we will notify customers in advance of the outage. We urge residents to drive safely during construction for the safety of residents, vehicles and Tampa Electric crews.
