Tampa Electric is committed to providing reliable, cost-effective electricity to you and your neighbors in the Balm community today and in the future.
Tampa Electric is building a new substation and power line in your area. These improvements will result in increased reliability and greater storm resistance. Please see the attached map. Tampa Electric is:
- Upgrading a power line using existing poles along Balm Riverview Road/County Road 672, between Fox Trail Way and Balm Boyette Road. Crews may temporarily close one lane of CR 672 as needed during this work. Construction on this portion is expected to begin in September.
- Building a new substation on CR 672, about a half-mile west of Balm Boyette Road. Construction on the substation is expected to begin before the end of the year.
- Installing a new power line running about 1 mile along the old railroad corridor, connecting the new CR 672 Substation with Tampa Electric's existing Aspen Substation, at 14105 Balm Boyette Road. The new steel poles will be up to 130 feet tall and about 60 inches wide at ground level. Construction of the line will begin later this year.
Construction is expected be complete by June 2022. We urge residents to drive cautiously during construction for the safety of other residents and our Tampa Electric crews.
