Tampa Electric is committed to providing reliable, cost-effective electricity to you and your neighbors near Waters Avenue.
Tampa Electric plans to upgrade a power line in your neighborhood. The company will upgrade about 2 miles of a 69-kilovolt (kV) power line from the Juneau Substation, 2112 W. Juneau St., along Sitka Street, North Boulevard and Waters Avenue to 11th Street. This equipment upgrade is needed to ensure the homes and businesses in your area continue to receive reliable power. (see the area map under Project Downloads.)
The project will replace about 55 wooden or concrete poles with new steel or concrete poles at or near their current locations. The new poles will be 50 to 85 feet tall and up to 24 inches wide at ground level. Similar poles were installed along Waters Avenue during the first phase of this project, between the Juneau Substation and Dale Mabry Highway.
Some trees will need to be trimmed, and traffic will be temporarily disrupted during the installation of the equipment. Work will require some intermittent lane closures and traffic detours around portions of Waters Avenue and some side streets. Residents may hear some construction-related noise during daylight hours on weekdays. Construction is scheduled to begin in coming weeks and to be complete at the end of the year. We urge residents to drive safely during construction for the safety of residents, vehicles and Tampa Electric crews.
