Tampa Electric is committed to providing reliable, cost-effective electricity to you and your neighbors near Waters Avenue.
Tampa Electric plans to upgrade a power line in your neighborhood. The company will upgrade about 2.5 miles of a 69-kilovolt (kV) power line along the south side of Waters Avenue, between the Juneau Substation, 2112 W. Juneau St., and the Waters Substation, 4406 W. Waters Ave. This equipment upgrade is needed to ensure the homes and businesses in your area continue to receive reliable power. (see the area map under Project Downloads.)
The project will replace 45 wooden poles with steel or concrete poles at or near their current locations. The new poles will be 50 to 85 feet tall and up to 24 inches wide at ground level, or about the same size as the existing wooden poles.
Traffic will be temporarily disrupted during the installation of the equipment. This will affect the southernmost lane of Waters Avenue between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays until the end of 2014, with some intermittent lane closures in 2015. Residents may hear some construction-related noise during daylight hours. Construction is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks and to be complete at the end of May 2015. We urge residents to drive safely during construction for the safety of residents, vehicles and Tampa Electric crews.
