Laura Crouch named vice president of State and Community Relations

After 24 years with the company, Chuck Hinson to retire

Nancy Tower, president and chief executive officer of Tampa Electric, and T.J. Szelistowski, president of TECO Peoples Gas, are pleased to announce that Laura Crouch will become the vice president of State and Community Relations and Economic Development for Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas on Monday.

She replaces Charles O. "Chuck" Hinson, who is retiring from TECO after 24 years.

Crouch will be responsible for state governmental affairs, local community and governmental relations and franchise renewals.

Crouch joined TECO in 1993 and has more than two decades of experience working with governmental agencies through her roles in Environmental, Regulatory, Resource Planning and Business Strategy. Most recently, she spent five years as director of Community Relations, Local Government and Economic Development for Tampa Electric and Peoples Gas.

She received a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of South Florida. She serves on the Florida Chamber Foundation Board, the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee of the board, Tampa Downtown Partnership's Executive Committee of the board, Visit Tampa Bay Advisory Board, Westshore Alliance Executive Committee of the board, Leadership Tampa '15 Alumnae, Leadership Florida Cornerstone Class XXXVII and other economic development and community organizations.

Tampa Electric, one of Florida's largest investor-owned electric utilities, serves about 750,000 customers in West Central Florida. Peoples Gas System, Florida's largest natural gas distribution utility, serves about 375,000 customers across Florida. They are subsidiaries of Emera Inc., a geographically diverse energy and services company headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.
