Streetlights will be turned on 24/7 – Hurricane Ian Restoration

blog_LightBucket.jpg

As restoration from Hurricane Ian continues, we want to make you aware of impacts to our more than 700,000 streetlights across West Central Florida.

  • We have turned on all streetlights in preparation for storm restoration. This allows us to visually inspect each light. We expect the lights to remain on 24/7 through October 5, 2022. If necessary, we will extend this time until all lights are repaired. Customer bills will not be impacted by the lights being on 24/7. We ask that you please do not report any streetlight issues to Tampa Electric while this restoration is taking place.
  • We estimate that approximately 100,000 lights have been impacted by the storm. We expect many of them will be restored to power as damaged electrical circuits are returned to service. All lights that sustained damage to the fixture or pole will be repaired or replaced.
  • As a result of this work, Tampa Electric’s lighting team has temporarily suspended work on recently submitted reports on malfunctioning lights.
  • All new lighting services and construction projects are on hold until this restoration work is complete.

If you have questions, please call Customer Care at 888-223-0800 weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we inspect and repair the streetlights that illuminate our community.
