The ENERGY STAR label on a home or multifamily building means that it has been designed and built to standards well above other new construction on the market, delivering energy efficiency savings up to 30 percent when compared to typical new construction.

Builders that construct ENERGY STAR homes

The following builders have applied and received rebates from Tampa Electric for building ENERGY STAR certified homes in your area.

Builder rebates

Contractors that build residential homes utilizing high-efficiency building techniques that meet or exceed ENERGY STAR standards will qualify for a rebate of $1,000* for each home that receives the ENERGY STAR certificate. The same rebate is available for customers that build their own home. Contact an Energy Star Rater serving Florida before you start construction. The ENERGY STAR Rater will provide you with guidance on inspections and the measures required to receive ENERGY STAR certification.

Acquiring your rebate

Please have the following information available before you start completing the ENERGY STAR Certified Homes rebate application:

  • Customer's Tampa Electric account number "or" Tampa Electric meter number

The application will prompt you to upload the following information:

  • ENERGY STAR Certificate

When you're ready, complete and submit the ENERGY STAR Certified Homes rebate application within 90 days of receiving your ENERGY STAR certificate. Once you submit the application, you will receive an enrollment/confirmation number that you can use to access your application. Be sure to write down and save the enrollment/confirmation number. If you have questions, call 813-275-3909 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

To access an existing application, simply enter the enrollment/confirmation number you received when you initially submitted your application. This will allow you to make changes and upload any required files.

Contractors please note: An eight-digit vendor number is required for processing. This number is assigned to contractors who register with Tampa Electric. To register or update an existing registration, please complete and submit this Vendor Number Request form. A vendor number will be e-mailed to you within five to seven business days and can be used to submit multiple rebate applications.

*Only one incentive payment will be issued per home.

Multifamily rebates

Multifamily rebates

Add extra value to your apartments and condos (multifamily buildings) when you build them to meet ENERGY STAR standards. The ENERGY STAR label appeals to savvy buyers and renters looking to maximize savings with reduced heating & cooling, water and other monthly utility costs.

Owners or developers that build multifamily buildings utilizing high-efficiency building techniques that meet or exceed ENERGY STAR standards will qualify for a rebate of $300* for each residential unit within a building that receives an ENERGY STAR certificate. Learn more about ENERGY STAR Certified Apartments and Condos.

Please perform the following prior to beginning construction:

  • Contact an ENERGY STAR Rater serving Florida before you start construction. The ENERGY STAR Rater will provide you with guidance on inspections and the measures required to receive ENERGY STAR certification.
  • Contact Tampa Electric's Energy Management Service department at 813-275-3909 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will work closely with you and provide any additional assistance you may need to qualify for the ENERGY STAR rebate.

The application will prompt you to upload the following information:

  • ENERGY STAR Certificate or Certified Rater Report
