Lower electric rates are coming August 1 – one month early!
Residential and small business customers can expect a reduction of $19.95 per 1,000 kilowatt-hours, an 11% to 12% decrease, as Tampa Electric ends the storm recovery surcharge one month ahead of schedule. Customers will begin seeing these savings on their September bills, which reflect August energy usage. The temporary storm surcharge recovered costs after the historic 2024 hurricane season.
Budget Billing customers’ savings will be reflected more gradually because those monthly payments are based on a prior 12-month average to keep bills predictable and stable.
