Tampa Electric Team Engages and Educates at the Great American Teach-In

Tampa Electric team members proudly participated in the Great American Teach-In, an event showcasing our commitment to community engagement and education. Across several local schools, including Kenly Elementary, Summerfield Crossings Elementary, Brooker Elementary, Alafia Elementary, and Winthrop Charter, our team members emphasized the importance of safety in all aspects of our work.

A highlight of our presentations centered around the diverse methods used for generating electricity and its distribution to homes and businesses. At Kenly, team members talked about the complexities of energy transmission and the sustainable practices we employ. Students were very interested in learning about our Manatee Viewing Center, which recently reopened for the season. This initiative demonstrates our dedication to environmental stewardship and the protection of local wildlife, particularly the cherished manatees.

In an engaging demonstration, Lineworker Bryan Dreyer illustrated the intricacies of our work by ascending in a bucket truck. This moment captivated the students, as they watched in amazement. Bryan's demonstration was a testament to the rigorous safety measures we uphold in every task.

The Great American Teach-In has been an excellent platform for us to connect with the younger generation, fostering a sense of curiosity and understanding about the energy sector. We are thrilled by the response from students and educators alike and are eagerly anticipating our participation in next year's event. At Tampa Electric, we believe in the power of education and community involvement, and we are honored to contribute to this enriching experience.
