Employer of Choice

Our commitment to delivering value starts within our own team. With more than 2,500 local team members, our goal is to attract and retain the best and brightest talent – and to reflect the rich diversity of the West Central Florida region across all levels of our company. We continuously work to enhance our workforce development practices while ensuring our team members have equal access to the tools they need to excel and build their career with us.

Tampa Electric proudly recruits veterans and has been focused on supporting military service members for more than 55 years. We Hire Heroes for their unique skills, experiences and values that align with our company mission. They make us stronger each day, as we live our values while serving our community.

Inclusion Matters

Each employee at Tampa Electric brings unique skills, work and life experiences that we value as essential to our success. Their diverse contributions to our work and culture make us stronger and ensure we realize our vision for achieving results through collaboration. Through our daily actions, we are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion, diversity and mutual respect by honoring our differences and raising awareness of our unconscious biases. We hold ourselves and others accountable for the equitable treatment of each other – and those in the communities we serve.

To help us advance this commitment, we established an Inclusion and Diversity Council in 2020 to drive these efforts across the company. The Council is supported by a broad team of ambassadors who are committed to advancing and championing this work, including:

  • Launching unconscious bias training for all employees
  • Reviewing and aligning our workforce and talent processes and practices
  • Spotlighting these important conversations each month

Employee Resource Groups

Fostering connections and building relationships is cornerstone to our inclusive and diverse culture at Tampa Electric. Our Employee Resource Groups invite team members from diverse backgrounds, identities and experiences to come together, along with allies and advocates from across the company, to encourage inclusive collaboration, spark innovation and accelerate professional development.

Our Employee Resource Groups:

Thriving and Equitable Communities

We are invested in our communities. Whether we are working as a team to deliver cost-effective and reliable energy, or seeking cleaner, affordable and more sustainable energy solutions, you can count on all of us at Tampa Electric to deliver on our commitments. We are focusing our energy on building knowledgeable, innovative, healthy and vibrant communities where everyone thrives. As your community partner, we believe we can make a difference where we live, work and serve.

Meeting our communities' needs also means being committed to ensuring equitable access to energy and lending a helping hand whenever possible. Tampa Electric proudly partners with non-profit organizations that provide critical assistance to our neighbors, including during the pandemic. During this unprecedented time, we have offered support to our community partners and organizations that provide essential services and basic needs to our community. We continue to work diligently with these service providers to aid and assist them in building stronger and safer communities.

Tampa Electric and People's Gas invested $250,000 to benefit the Tampa Bay History Center. It will allow the center to expand its exhibit of Black history in the Tampa Bay region.
