Increase the energy efficiency of your equipment, save on maintenance and operating costs, and improve your indoor air quality by installing a facility energy management system (EMS) that controls all or a part of your building’s electrical load. Both new and existing construction projects qualify for this rebate.

How the program works

Tampa Electric provides a rebate of up to 50 percent of the project cost, with a maximum of $25,000, when you install an energy management system (“EMS”) at your facility. The EMS must consist of a central operator’s station that includes a central processing unit and is capable of monitoring all sensors and field devices in real time. The station must be accessible by a local or remote computer with a monitor.

Please note significant EMS software changes are eligible, but updates for a new version being released or an annual license are not eligible. Software updates are evaluated by a Tampa Electric Analyst for approval.

Pre-approval is required

Before work begins, please submit the following information to Tampa Electric using the Facility Energy Management System program rebate application. After you submit the application, you will receive an enrollment/confirmation number that you can use to access your application. Be sure to write down and save the enrollment/confirmation number.

  • Tampa Electric customer account number
  • Contractor license number
  • Contractor license number expiration date

The application will prompt you to upload the following information:

  • Specification sheets
  • Diagram or schematic that illustrates equipment integration
  • Detailed contractor proposal

Acquiring your rebate

Once work is complete, you must submit a paid receipt/invoice (proof of purchase) to Tampa Electric. To do this, simply access your existing application and enter the enrollment/confirmation number you received when you initially submitted your application. Please allow four weeks for processing.
