Tampa Electric is deepening its commitment to youth and community development through sport. In partnership with the Tampa Bay Sun Football Club (FC) and the Tampa Bay Sun Foundation, we’re supporting free Youth Soccer Clinics and afterschool programs that will reach more than 1,600 children ages 7-13 during the 2026 soccer season.

This renewed partnership builds on last year’s success, when Tampa Electric helped launch a series of free clinics that reached more than 500 local children. Now, with the Tampa Bay Sun FC entering its second season fresh off a 2025 USL Super League Championship win, we’re teaming up again to grow the impact.

Through this collaboration, we’re helping local kids lace up, learn and grow – not only as players, but as people. The expanded effort includes 10 “Energize the Bay” clinics at local fields, six “Shine” clinics at Title I schools and youth organizations and three “Rise Up Soccer Club” afterschool programs for girls in Title I schools. We also support sports equipment at participating schools.

Each clinic is designed to teach teamwork, resilience and confidence, helping youth across our community shine both on and off the field. These young athletes will also benefit from working with powerful role models, the professional soccer players of Tampa Bay Sun FC.

“Tampa Electric is honored to continue our partnership with Tampa Bay Sun FC and the Tampa Bay Sun Foundation,” said Stephanie Smith, vice president of State and Regional Affairs for Tampa Electric. “Together, we’re helping create opportunities for children across Tampa Bay to discover their potential – through sport, mentorship and community.”

Our support comes from shareholder funds and does not affect customer bills.

As the Tampa Bay Sun FC enters its second season, we’re proud to support the organization’s growing outreach efforts. Whether you’re cheering from the stands or encouraging young athletes at a local clinic, this season offers a chance to be part of something meaningful.
