Fifty Students. Four Counties. One Life-Changing Opportunity.

What could a student’s future look like if college were in reach?

For 50 local high school seniors, that question is being answered.

Through a new partnership between Tampa Electric (TECO) and the Florida Prepaid College Foundation (FPCF), the Path to Prosperity Scholarship Program is opening doors that might otherwise have remained closed. For students across Hillsborough, Polk, Pasco and Pinellas counties, the scholarship means two years of college – and with that, the chance to dream bigger and build a better future.

Whether they choose to pursue a trade, a technical certification, or a college degree, the students will be stepping onto a path that leads to opportunity, stability and hope.

The Path to Prosperity Scholarship Program, led by the FPCF and the Florida Chamber Foundation, is part of a statewide effort to reduce childhood poverty by expanding access to education. Big Brothers Big Sisters, a key community partner, will help the scholarships reach deserving students and aid in the application process.

For Tampa Electric, empowering others is key to community connection and support.

“We’re thrilled to support scholarships through the Florida Prepaid College Foundation,” said Julie Ward, community investment manager for TECO. “When a student’s future changes, it creates a ripple effect that can lift families and communities for generations to come.”

Through partnerships like this, more local students are turning college aspirations into lifelong opportunities.
